FORD, GERALD

A souvenir copy of the document Gerald Ford wrote pardoning Richard Nixon. At the top of the page is the heading, “GRANTING PARDON TO RICHARD NIXON BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, A PROCLAMATION.” A five paragraph description of the events leading up to the impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives and the prospect of a trial of the President leads Ford to state, “Now, Therefore, I, Gerald R. Ford, President of the United States, pursuant to the pardon power conferred upon me by Article 11, Section 2, of the Constitution, have granted… a full, free, and absolute pardon unto Richard Nixon for all offenses against the United States… during the period from January 20, 1969 through August 9, 1974…” Authentically signed by Ford at the conclusion.  $895
